The Weight of Holding On

There comes a time when holding on is heavier than letting go. Release is about creating simple rituals that give us space to soften, breathe, and turn inward. It’s not about forgetting what we’ve walked through—it’s about finding ways to set it down, even for a moment, so we can care for ourselves more fully.

      the Art of Release

For me, art has always been a ritual of release. The act of arranging broken pieces into mosaics, or brushing paint onto canvas, became a way to let go of grief and reshape it into something meaningful. Those small practices reminded me that I didn’t have to keep everything bottled inside. Over time, I’ve also discovered other rituals—like gratitude letters, quiet moments of reflection and meditation, and carving out little acts of kindness for myself as well as others—this is what has carried me through. These self-care practices have been deeply life-giving, and I can’t wait to share them with you.

Creating Gentle Practices

Your rituals may look different, and that’s the beauty of them. For some, it might be the simple rhythm of making tea in the morning, or stepping outside to breathe in fresh air before the day begins. For others, it might be journaling, writing a letter of gratitude, or lighting a candle to mark a transition. Release can even come through movement—walking slowly, stretching, or dancing in your living room when the world feels too heavy. What matters is not how you release, but that you allow yourself a practice that brings relief and tenderness. These moments become little sanctuaries you can return to again and again, no matter what life holds.

an invitation to lay it down

If you’re feeling weighed down, let this rhythm be your invitation to set something down today. You don’t have to carry it all at once. Maybe you lay it down through a small ritual—a note you write and tuck away, a breath you pause to take, being present in a way that soothes you. These simple acts remind you that you are worthy of care, and that healing often comes in the gentlest of gestures. And here is the gift: when we release what no longer serves us, we create space for something new to enter. By loosening your grip, you open your hands to possibility—making room for wonder, growth, and the unexpected beauty that is waiting just ahead.
